Black History 2026 marked 100 years since The birth of Black History Month! What began as Negro History Week, blossomed into a full Month of Veneration and Celebration. We thank historian Carter G. Woodson for laying the foundation.
Black History for this Black Transwoman means venerating and carrying to the torch passed to us from Marsha P. Johnson, Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, Monica Roberts, and the many Black Trans and nonbinary individuals who have created change and fought for Black Trans Liberation.
Black History is witnessing Doechii and Durand Bernarr nabbing their well deserved Grammys -and celebrating their beginnings and growth! Black LGBT representation on the Grammy stage is Black History that some could only imagine.
Black History is reveling in the legacies that William Dorsey Swann, and Peppr Labeija left us that lead to the hit HBO show “Legendary.” Ballroom exists because, you guest it Black History
Black History walks among us through our friends, family and local heroes. You don’t have to be famous to be apart of Black History.
Black History is Black liberation.
Black history is still being made as I write this post.
