National Masturbation Month 2026 has begun!!! This is the Bator Community's time to shine!!! LMAO. Naw but foreal.
National Masturbation Month is one of my favorite times of the year. It's a time to celebrate self pleasure and self discovery! National Masturbation Month is not just a freak's paradise, but an act of resistance.
During the Clinton Administration, then US Surgeon General, Jocelyn Elders, the first Black woman and second woman to serve in the position, stated “I think that it is something that’s part of human sexuality and it’s part of something that perhaps should be taught,” she said. “But we’ve not even taught our children the very basics. And I feel that we have tried ignorance for a very long time and it’s time we try education," (LA Times Dec 10, 1994) Dr. Elders was speaking during an AIDS forum discussing prevention. She went further to say "[b]ut we’ve not even taught... the very basics. And I feel that we have tried ignorance for a very long time and it’s time we try education.” As a result she was fired.
Although she was fired, Dr. Elders brought forth revolution in regards to self pleasure. In a fiery reponse to Dr. Elders' firing, a group of activists at the Good Vibrations sex retailer gathered and decided that May would be the perfect month to celebrate and educate about masturbation. Since 1995, we've gathered virtually and physically to further destigmatize masturbation.
Growing up in the early 2000's masturbation was frowned upon and seen as unnatural and sinful. Religion had me in a purity chokehold until one night watching Real Sex...YOU KNOW WHICH EPISODE....I masturbated for the first time and it was divine!!!!
